In audiophile usage, imaging means a speaker's ability to render voices and instruments a sprecisely placed, solid, tangible objects in space. The Chinese term is borrowed from optics, where 結像 means the forming of an image: scattered light condensing into a defined figure.
To image, is to solidify and crystallize a phantom, an existence with no physical source, into something with placement, focus, body, and coherence.
